  • You need to control-click the file then choose Open With and then Pages from the Finder but if Pages is the only word processor on your Mac, you can double-click the file.

  • Then click the more button on the file you want to convert then choose Download a Copy in the document manager.
  • If you have opened the document then click the Tools button in the toolbar then choose Download a Copy.
  • You need to choose a format for the document and the file starts begins to download to your browser’s download location.

  • You need to sign in to iCloud.com with your Apple ID and then click Pages.icloud with apple ID
  • Then drag the file you want to upload into the Pages document manager in your browser or you can click the Upload button then select the file and then click Choose.
  • Then double-click the file in the document manager.
  • Click on Advanced Options in the window that appears on your screen and you will have the option to save or convert the file to either a .docx or .doc format.
  • Pages will save the file to a .docx file format by default as it is the most recent one but if you want the Word document to be compatible with older Windows computers that have not been kept up to date so, it is better to save as .doc because it is the most cross-compatible format.
  • Then export Pages to .docx format and click Next and select a location where you want to save the .doc or .docx Word document.
  • You need to click Export to save or complete the conversion.
  • When the document has been saved as a Word file, you can still open it and edit it using Pages on your Mac.

The Pages app will make very compatible word files effortlessly.
