How to Fix Disney Plus Error Code 83 on All Devices

Disney Plus Error Code 83

Disney Plus is by far one of the most popular streaming channels that have made our quarantine a bit bearable. However, like any other steaming channel, this also has errors that’ll block you out from using the platform. It indeed is agitating when you get a sudden error in between a movie marathon. One of such error codes is error 83. It blocks you from using Disney Plus.

In this article, we’ll learn about what causes this error and how to fix it all by yourself.

Disney Plus error code 83: Reasons Why Such an Error Occurs

Internet Issue

One of the most common reasons behind error 83 is the internet connection issue. It is possible that Disney Plus’s site itself is facing issues due to too many log-ins at once. You cannot do much about it unless the server starts running again to take the load off from several log-ins.

Local Service Provider Issue

It is also possible that your local internet service provider is facing the issue of too much traffic at once. You might want to check with your ISP once and ask if their servers are having issues or not.

Server Timeout

This issue may also occur if the servers face too much traffic and can’t connect you to Disney Plus or cannot get past a DRM/Account check.

Incompatible Devices

We have noticed Error 83 in lots of devices like laptops and computers. It happens because most of the time the devices cannot pass the DRM check. These days the issue is happening more because of the browsers we’re using and not because of the servers.

General Troubleshooting for Such Errors

  1. The first thing that you need to check is if your internet connection is running fine or not. It may happen that at a particular time, the connection is too slow (slower than 5 Mbps).
  2. Disconnect your device from the Wi-Fi or mobile data that you are using. Wait for some time and check if it is working again or not.
  3. If it doesn’t work, you can try again after resetting your modem.
  4. Sign out of all the accounts that you’re using to watch Disney Plus and try again.
  5. Try uninstalling the app from the device and download it from Playstore again.
  6. Try using a separate browser.
  • Device Compatibility
    Device Compatibility

As we’ve said earlier, these days, this issue is happening mainly because of device incompatibility. Error 83 often points that your device is not compatible with Disney Plus. There is a list of devices that are compatible with Disney Plus. If your device isn’t listed, then it is your call to use a different one.

Maybe you’re using another device like a smart TV, Xbox, or a Play station; you can always find the software update guide on the manufacturer’s website. Check the website to see if there is any firmware update or not. Updating the firmware of the device that you’re using may solve the issue.

  • Check Your Web Browser

The issue may be occurring due to the incompatibility of web browsers. Disney Plus only supports some of the very popular web browsers such as Chrome, Mozilla, Microsoft Edge, Explorer, and Apple Safari. If you’re not using one of these, you should change your browser.

  • Entertainment Console Browsers

Disney Plus doesn’t support browsers that come with entertainment consoles and smart TVs. You can try Chromecast or AirPlay to watch it on your TV

  • Global Issues

This issue occurs if Disney Plus is getting launched in a new batch of countries, or maybe there are some big releases worldwide.

  • Wi-Fi Issues
    Wi-Fi Issues

You can get rid of this issue if you turn off the wi-fi for some time and turn on the LTE instead. However, you should have unlimited data on your phone.

  • Watching on a Laptop

If you’re watching Disney Plus on a laptop for the first time, you may face this issue. Once you log in through the browser, it will prompt you to check the compatibility of your device. By the time you can “allow”, the browser times-out already and will show Error 83.

You can click on dismiss and try to watch the video again. The issue is that you have to keep doing this for the second time and third and so on.

  • Device Needs a Restart

We know that it is a very obvious idea but what’s the harm to give it a try? It may or may not work but go on and take a chance.

  • App Update Needed

You may have missed an update of Disney Plus. When an app version is updated the older one becomes incompatible. That could very much be the problem that you’re facing. Go to the Plays tore and check if the app is giving an update or not. This may solve your issue.

  • Account Issues

If you have tried all the possible troubleshooting steps related to software and application and still are getting the code, it is a possibility that the issue is related to your account. You can try once with another existing account. If that account works then the issue is definitely with your account. In that case, you have to check your subscription details or contact customer support.

  • Check the App Status

With any issues with the streaming app, you can first contact the help center. This is the quickest way to find out if the app is facing any server or software issue. Click on the chat button at the bottom of the screen and have a talk with the technicians about the issue.

  • Linux Issue

    Linux Issue

This is rare to find, but you can be one of those users that use a Linux PC. In that case, you should know about this fact. When Disney Plus was launched it didn’t work initially due to severe DRM issues. Disney Plus doesn’t support Linux yet, but many users have been able to log in to the channel using compatible browsers. If you’re one among the lucky ones then it is good but in case you’re seeing the error 83 too then, there’s no solution.

Final Words

The bottom line is that there is no fixed theory yet what is causing the issue and how you can solve it. There are multiple reasons and multiple solutions to those. If nothing works then you may want to send feedback to Disney Plus itself and wait for their actions. We wish you good luck.
